Start with the parcel, not the mailing address
A Miami postal address may be in the City of Miami, unincorporated Miami-Dade or another municipality. Determine the authority before the builder prices permit handling.
Expect plans and site information
Miami-Dade's swimming-pool permit guidance requests design drawings and a site plan showing the pool location, structural dimensions and electrical and plumbing connections, with professional seals where required.
Include barriers and related work
Discuss the required safety measure, fencing or other barrier work, deck, electrical, plumbing, equipment and any screen enclosure in the original scope.
Put permit responsibility in writing
The contract should state who produces drawings, submits each permit, responds to corrections, schedules inspections and supplies final closeout documents.
